CQ92.com - Recording Info @ Larry's Music
Hi and thanks for taking an interest in the music offered here,

This is just sort of an informative page right now as to how the CD's and Tapes are made and the differences in songs on them. The first CD - 10 Great Accordion Tunes - with the red accordion label is in two sets of 5 songs each. The first set is completely acoustic accordion, meaning it's not amplified or modified at all, just recorded and only the accordion playing. It's made for those that like only accordion sound. The second set of songs, 6 to 10 are made with an electronic accordion. Electronic accordion is made in such a way that it can generate certain tones when it is played to sound like violin, banjo, strings, organ, harpsichord and also has percussion, sustain, delay, and depending on the model can also operate as an autodrummer (with various types of drum sounds) using the bass side or can be made to sound like a bass guitar. Many settings can be adjusted to change the accompanying sound and while doing this it can also be played as an ordinary accordion using the reeds as well in various voices. It can also be played completely electronically meaning the bellows need not be used if one does not wish to.

The second CD which has assorted pictures on the front - Great Accordion Songs - was recorded using a different type of accordion which is a midi accordion. This type of accordion can be made to simulate assorted other instruments and can be recorded directly into computer if one wishes or used with a realtime arranger to play live. It can accurately sound like nearly any instrument as it uses pre recorded stored sound samples taken from the actual instruments to produce the sound according to what one is playing. Because of this and the electronics involved one can have several pianos such as rhodes, honkey tonk, classical, grand and the same for other instruments, such as all the varieties of saxophone, assorted stringed instruments, for example electric guitar and acoustic guitar, distortion guitar, classical guitar or bass guitar and several instruments can be played simultaneously depending on the capability of the arranger and the available channels for signals to travel on.For example, one can set a piano with violin accompanyment, banjo, lead electric guitar and some woodwinds as well as a drummer quite easily and also have accordion with all other instruments perfectly in time and simultaneous as one plays the song, essentially a small orchestra can be created and played by one person. And at the same time similar to electronic accordion, one can also play the accordion and again can use assorted voices to create different reed sounds as required. It also has drummer capability but with more variety and control such as effects that can be triggered at timely intervals, example being fills and endings and a slight difference is that either the accordion can control the bass effects or it can be preset and the accordion can simply follow the drummer, whatever one desires. Another advantage to this system is that presets can be stored for later use, one can create entire sets of music and arrangements that will play back at a later time for use in public appearances and it can also be ordered so that once started, the settings change automatically at each song for different instrumentation, timing , volume and effects and in the order one desires. This CD is a mixture of acoustic, electronic, midi and vocals and was made so as to be an interesting variety for any sort of listener to enjoy.

The cassette material is taken from the second CD and due to the length of standard commercial tape - 39 minutes, it contains 9 songs rather than 10. It was designed so that all songs are on both sides and the reason being that one can then easily switch sides on some types of players to conveniently find certain songs without having to rewind or search a lot and if one wishes to listen to the entire tape, it will automatically start over when it ends so there is no need to manually restart it. Cassette is offered for the convenience of the listener as they are still in use in older vehicles and home sound systems.

Currently in the works is a series of songs using only midi with effects and is completely digital, also added is printing labels right on the CD face for better quality.

And in closing, hopefully the tunes are enjoyable to the listener. Questions or problems with any product - EMail me.
